Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is made up of a very lively bunch of amazing five, six and seven year old students with Autism! In this classroom... we think outside the box! We persevere, make progress and NEVER GIVE UP! We celebrate everything. We love hard, we respect, and we accept! Our six loving, intelligent, unique and curious learners are a very busy bunch and need continuous support and stimulation to help them succeed each day.
They all come from a big city that feels the aches and struggles of low income and poverty.
BUT.. these unique minds do not let any of their struggles stop them from striving to be active participants in their school and community, as they learn to understand the big world around them! They are fearless when it comes to technology and as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage and communicate in their world!
My Project
iPads are a great tool for education and communication that can be tailored to each students specific needs. iPads offer our busy babies accommodations that our computers can not. They are mobile and can go where ever the child goes, which means they have ways to calm, focus and learn while on the go! The touch screen makes it easier for our tiny hands to navigate, which promotes independence for children who have learning or coordination difficulties.
We will use our iPads to strengthen our language, reading, writing and math skills by using interactive apps and games that stimulate our minds, accommodate our sensory needs and motivate us to be great listeners!
