My Project

Little Free Libraries(LFL) can help our community in bringing more books into the homes of our students. For years, research has shown that the very existence of books in the home is correlated with student well-being, academic achievement, and future success. There are families within our community that are unable to replenish books to ensure that their children have access to books on their appropriate learning level.

The Little Free Library will allow students and families the opportunity to read and also refresh their own home libraries.

Having a local Little Free Library will allow parents to bring their kids to our school and exchange or grab needed books to read with their children or read independently. The LFL will be placed near our school/community playground so that students and their families can have access anytime they visit. This will get more students reading outside of school to better increase their vocabulary, background knowledge and reading skills. I am requesting 2 little library kits so that one can be dedicated to children's books for grades Pre-K-3 and the other can be dedicated to intermediate grades. This will allow all students to find books that fit their learning levels.
