Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 2nd-grade special education teacher. My students are placed in a self-contained classroom for ASD standard or modified curriculum. Some of my students have multiple exceptionalities. In addition, some of them have other services such as speech, occupational or social/emotional counseling, and ABA (applied behavior analyst assisting). Supporting children with autism would make a world of difference in their lives.

My students are very high functioning.

I am confident this school year they will work to show academic growth. Each of them is extraordinary, intelligent, and unique. My expectations for them are set high because they all are on a standard curriculum. Each of them poses the qualities of scholar students with the potential to attain academic goals. In addition, their parents are very involved with the school as well as attending to their needs.

My Project

My students require constant prompting and assistance to keep area clean and to be engaged in activities. We have lunch in the classroom therefore I am always wiping down tables, hands, and materials. Sometimes I use healthy snacks as an incentive or reward for positive behavior. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and meet basic needs they may not be able to get at home. I teach them about the importance of staying healthy by not spreading germs. My school's socio-economic population is poor or low income families/housing. Many of my students seem hungry and ask for for snacks through the day.
