This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My first graders are kind, creative and full of energy! I teach at a Title I school where my students come from low income families and face many different challenges. Despite the challenges they may face, they come to school excited and eager to learn!
Writing centers offer young students a space to explore, express, and grow through words.
For 1st graders especially, these centers provide more than just paper and pencils — they provide a foundation for literacy, creativity, and confidence.
I would love to provide my students with a brand new writing center — a space where creativity, learning, and self-expression can flourish every single day.
A tabletop writing center will help keep all of our supplies organized and accessible, encouraging students to explore writing with ease and excitement. I plan to stock it with writing paper, fresh pencils, and fun tools that spark imagination. In addition, a floor desk will give students a cozy, flexible workspace — another inviting option to make writing time feel special and empowering. A Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to purchase engaging writing resources and lesson materials that support literacy and inspire young authors to thrive.
