Flexible seating allows students to still be active while focusing and engaging in their learning. Currently during COVID my students are spending almost all of the school day at their desks to social distance. This is hard for my first graders that love to be active and move around the classroom. Flexible seating will give my students more opportunities to get some of their wiggles out while maintaining a safe distance from others. When my students are able to wiggle they are more engaged and willing to participate. Since my students are spending so much time at their desk due to COVID the wobble stools will provide some wiggling while at their desk. The floor seats will also give an option to move from their desk onto the floor and provide a more comfortable learning environment while maintaining a safe distance from others. The bean bags will allow for some additional flexible seating that might be a comfier option and provide a calm space if needed. The dry erase boards will also provide a way to keep my students engaged since we aren't able to come up to the smartboard during COVID. All of these items will help to make a better classroom environment while we face new obstacles and struggles with COVID. These items will also bring some exciting and new things to my classroom that will still keep my students safe during this uncertain time.
