This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Are you a witch? My students are learning about the Salem Witch Trials and it is difficult to comprehend the setting and the time period when we live on the opposite side of the country.

My students are very motivated and eager to learn; however, the majority of them are second language learners and come from lower income homes.

Most of these students receive free or reduced price lunch and, in our school alone, our students speak over 42 different languages.

My Project

My students need an iPad and speakers for our literature units to show clips of videos of what we read. Students will get a vivid understanding of the Salem Witch Trials through the use of multiple visuals, audio files, and their text. They will be able to compare and contrast their understanding of the Salem Witch Trials to the Red Scare. All of my students will learn the danger of hysteria through this unit.

This technology is important because it is not something we can purchase at this moment.

Research has demonstrated that most students are visual learners and audio is extremely helpful for English language learners. These funds will help level the playing field with wealthier counterparts.
