My Students

My students are a fantastic group of innovative learners in the Sarasota County area who are excited to learn through reading and writing this year.

My students are a creative group who love to learn through exploring literature using escape rooms, reading groups, various projects, and the very popular "Publishing Project" where students get the opportunity to publish their own books.

They are a wonderful group of 8th-grade students who love to read and write in my classroom. They love to learn through reading and exploring new genres of literature.

My Project

The books "American Street" and "All American Boys" are two stories about children becoming teenagers in a new culture. These books are fantastic examples of coming of age stories that I use in my classroom to teach specific Florida State Standards in both reading and writing.

Handing a book that will not only interest a child, but also challenge them can change their outlook on the world and the books available to them.

These two books contain a powerful message and will push my students to think about what it is like to come from somewhere else and go through challenging trails in life as an immigrant in the United States.
