They are such a light, and their work brightens the hallways and the school atmosphere across our campus, and both myself and they deeply appreciate that you enabled their art journey to be even more exciting.\r\nYou contributed items for several projects centered around our Outdoor Art curriculum.\r\nThe first of these projects completed was their Florida nature study which were done as part of a unit where they learned and produced work similar to the Florida Highwaymen - a group of African American plein air artists who sold massive amounts of paintings out of their cars from the 1950's -1980's. In that likeness the students produced a mixed media oil pastel composition. When used alone oil pastel can be limiting regarding fine lines, so a lot of the fine detail work needed to be done by a special type of colored pencil, an oily colored pencil - which you provided to them a beautiful large set of. They were over the moon with ALL THE COLORS and the ability to overcome that limitation of oil pastel. A picture of 4 of those compositions is included in the photos :)\r\nThe second project which they have worked in with your donated items is SunPrinting.\r\nThis has 3 planned phases, of which they have completed the 1st - SunPrinting on cyanotype pre-coated paper. I believe this has been their favorite project so far this year!! Many students plan to give these to their moms for Mother's Day because they are coming out so beautifully!! Phase 2 and 3 of this will be coming up where they coat their own paper with 1) cyanotype and 2) a turmeric mixture to make an additional type of SunPrint - so they are getting a hands on Science lesson as well, as the sun printing process is chemical change in action!\r\nThe final project that they will be doing with your donated items for many years to come is using gel plates for monoprinting. The potential of gel plate printing is very extensive, but most art classrooms do not have them due to their cost - so thank you!!\r\nIt is my plan to have them find leaves, flowers... etc in the McIntosh woods, and use those combined with rollers, paints and inks to press them onto printing paper. I know they will be absolutely gaga over this very new experience in getting to make a monoprint! Who wouldn't be?\r\nMyself and my students are just so grateful for you pouring into their lives a depth of experience that they would not have otherwise been able to attain this year. I so want them to experience the joy, freshness and freedom in finding art in and from nature - and I thank you for helping them to do that at a new level.","fullyFundedDate":1770419936489,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-art-classroom-supplies/9849881/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Art Classroom Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pisaturo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10325078_orig.jpg?crop=794,794,x0,y50&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777939401703","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10325078"},{"teacherId":10074388,"projectId":9454101,"letterContent":"Mrs. Barnett and I are so thrilled with these cushions! Even with the slightest hint that we might take the cushions away, the students immediately get back on track to give their best effort. We are seeing quantifiable results with these cushions. Also, I have a separate classroom with some of the cushions in there, and the students love coming for small group interventions because of the cushions. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I was so thrilled to see that you two were the sponsors of this project, because I am a customer of Tommy's and a massive fan of Ripple!","fullyFundedDate":1757951947004,"projectUrl":"project/chair-cushions-to-increase-math-achievem/9454101/","projectTitle":"Chair Cushions to Increase Math Achievement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10074388"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47112","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":693,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":47112,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about McIntosh Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"McIntosh Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/sarasota-county-school-district/mcintosh-middle-school/47112"}
