My students need 51 children's books with titles from "Chugga Chugga Choo-Choo" to "My Truck Is Stuck!" to complete their classroom library and enhance learning through thematic units.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a school where the majority of the student population lives in a homeless shelter. This is a high-need community where early literacy is crucial.

Although my students are facing a less than ideal living situation, they are full of curiosity, love, learning and enjoy exploring new ideas.

When students walk into my classroom they enter a safe, supportive environment where they all have the opportunity to thrive.

My Project

Classroom libraries are an important part of instruction at every grade level of elementary school. To have a successful reading program, students should be able to pick from a variety of genres. Having books that are interesting to the students will keep them reading, longer. That should be a goal for every effective teacher.

This project is so important to the needs of these kids.
