Literature and Science Collide

My students need multiple copies of 8 Science literature titles for their 10th grade Integrated Science Honors class.

My Students

Students often are only assigned the classic books to read in English class, but there are so many more types of literature out there! Books can help students appreciate how science applies to daily life and how it solves problems in the world. Have you ever wondered what happens to donated bodies?

My students live in a very small rural community.

Some of the books I have requested are not in their local library, but one 50 miles away! They love the outdoors and many of them continue on in college to study science. They spent their 7th and 8th grade science years with me, and I am fortunate to be able to teach these kids again in the 10th grade.

My Project

By integrating science literature into my curriculum, my students will have the opportunity to read stories that are both science fiction and historical science content. They can get lost reading about some of science's most puzzling problems and debate ethical issues that deal with science advances. These books will help them think more in-depth about the world they live in.

Reading is such an important skill for kids.

Bringing literature into the science classroom is one way to help students enhance this skill and bring different types of stories into their lives. Please help them with this by donating.
