My Project

My students are all students who have English as a second language. My district represents over 90 different nationalities and languages. The items I have requested are all to help my kiddos assist in new language aquisition. One of the goals I have for this project is to help me gameify learning. A second goal is to provide a language rich environment that all of my students can benefit from. My students are special because they love learning, and want to be able to read, write and speak like their peers in school.

One way we know students learn is through experimentation.

I want to provide opportunities for them to experiment and take risks in a supportive environment. Where they can fail, and make corrections without embarassment and shame. One way to do this is through the gameification of learning. Some of the resources I have requested are games meant to provide learning opportunities, but also to have fun while learning.

Another goal of this project is to develop a language rich library to provide multi-ple levels of reading and writing so that students can aquire vocabulary and practice with language. My students are more likely to speak their first language in the home, and often the only time they have to practice English is at school. These resources will allow me to provide students and opportunity to read and write in a fun way at school and extend to the home.

I want to be sure that all of my students have high quality resources and books to learn language and have a great time doing it!
