Literacy Materials for Little Learners

My Students

I am blessed to work with a wonderful group of diverse young children who come to me with various backgrounds and experiences. I teach in a public school where a large percentage of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and are faced with other concerns that put them at risk for learning challenges. Despite these challenges, we work hard daily to reach our full potential. I teach in an a blended PreK classroom with a range of children that are typically developing and students who have special needs including developmental delays, autism, or medical concerns. We all work together in our classroom!

In my classroom, we are proud to love, laugh, and learn every day.

As a preschool teacher, I work with our school's youngest learners (ages 3-5). It is important to me that I provide children and families a positive experience as they start school. Together we set goals and strive to meet them through our exciting learning adventures.

My Project

Early literacy is very important in Pre-K! Our students love to be read to and listen to stories. They also love to tell stories themselves. The materials I am requesting will help our students tell familiar stories on their own. The felt board and felt stories will be used in whole group lessons as well as independently by the children in centers. The materials are also sturdy and will be used by classes for many years, making your donation have a great impact!

The children in our class are laying a foundation for reading comprehension.

These materials will help them learn and demonstrate this skill through play! Children learn best when they are engaged with materials that support their learning. These resources would do just that and provide opportunities for my little learners to meet literacy objectives.
