This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Books are windows to a broader worldview. They allow a child to remove themselves from the outside world and fall into a world of beauty and imagination. As a teacher, one of my greatest joys is watching my students light up as we read a new book. I love to watch them smile and giggle at the funny parts, how they become quiet and nervous at the slightly eery details, and how loud they scream and clap when they hear the happy ending.
Did you know that a child that is read one book a day, has the opportunity to hear more than 219,000 words in a year?
Although not all of my students have access to books at home, I can do my part as a teacher to ensure they never hunger for the written word in my classroom. Books truly are the windows to a wider worldview. They allow students to open their imaginations, create grand adventures, and truly give the student an opportunity to see so many different parts of what makes our world an amazing, magical place.
These books will not only allow all of this to happen in my classroom but will also allow my students to see themselves in their adventures and I would do anything to allow them to see what I see in them every single day.
