My Students

I am a new teacher and am grateful to interact and inspire one hundred and ten, young students. My students come from all different backgrounds and academic levels. All bring their own special touch to my classroom. I am a firm believer that a classroom should be a positive, safe place for students to be able to feel comfortable and learn to their best ability.

Being a new teacher, I am unable to provide my students with a library of books to support their reading needs.

Literacy is an important part of school for students to read, learn and grow. It is nice to have many different types of books for students to be able to escape into a novel.

I grew up not enjoying books until late high school. Now, being an avid reader, I have learned that all it takes is finding a few books you truly enjoy to spark your reading interest. As I read and listen to many books, I try to give my students great recommendations to fit their personal interests. Having a classroom library for my students would help greatly!

My Project

A classroom library and a variety of books will continue to enhance the literacy focused classroom that I strive to create. Being a new teacher, I am working on creating a classroom library where students have many choices of books to read and is a place that they really enjoy! Every book that is placed in my library is available to check out. They always treat my books with love and care. They are truly thankful for the opportunities to read. I am looking forward to expanding those reading opportunities for my students. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I had students journal about what books they have read that they enjoyed, as well as share with me some books they are looking forward to reading. Students will be able to choose books that interest them, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
