We have used them several times to get our sensory skills. We have put in beads and pipe cleaners and have put in pom poms and tweezers to help our fine motor skills. We have put in ice cubes and tried to melt them with water and a pipette and pinches of salt for a fun science lesson. We are looking forward to adding other items to feel different textures and to figure out how other item s work. They work nicely on the tables and on the floor and we will bring them to our school forest to help with snow centers while we are there. I think I will put some finger paint in one to try that as well too. \r\n\r\nWhen I opened the box, the students were excited but didn't know what they were. Once I explained what the trays were and gave them some ideas for them, they were happy and very curious. My students like to do what we are putting in the Tough Trays. They know it will be a fun activity of sensory and fine motor along with other things. They have asked to have some building toys inside so they can build something with those toys. I can't wait to see what they build.","fullyFundedDate":1761962222784,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-exploration-and-integration/9704152/","projectTitle":"Sensory Exploration and Integration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Forseth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10252548"},{"teacherId":8835044,"projectId":9038517,"letterContent":"The additional of a light table has made an exciting impact in our 4K classroom, transforming the way students engage with learning through play, discovery and creativity! From the moment the light table what introduced, the children were captivated. All their faces lit up - quite literally - as they saw the glowing surface for the first time as well as all the new manipulatives that they would have the opportunity to explore along with it. They could not wait to explore and create! \r\n\r\nThe light table has quickly become a hub of exploration and learning. Students are naturally drawn to it's glow and excitement. There are a variety of ways we have used the light table since it's arrival in our classroom. We have explored color mixing and transparency by overlapping colored shapes and materials. We built early literacy skills by adding letter tiles and various objects - inviting students to match the objects to the beginning letter sounds. We built early math and problem solving skills by adding various shapes and encouraging students to build various objects and shapes. We also added various thematic items just as flowers, leaves and bugs during our spring unit to explore! \r\n\r\nWhen the light table was first revealed it was clear that the students saw it as not just another classroom tool, but as something magical. They run to it with enthusiasm, often collaborating and experimenting together with excitement. Their natural curiosity was sparked, and it has remained a favorite learning center for both structured and open-ended exploration and learning. \r\n\r\nMoving forward I hope to continue to foster a love for learning, creativity, collaboration and exploration as we explore early math, literacy, science skills and more. The light table has truly been a transformative addition to our classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1739455238507,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-up-learning-in-4k/9038517/","projectTitle":"Lighting Up Learning in 4K","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Battisti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8835044_orig.jpg?crop=585,585,x418,y321&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683770575967","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8835044"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38124","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":198,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":78,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"7.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.4,"schoolId":38124,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Dyer Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Dyer Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/burlington-area-school-district/dr-dyer-intermediate-school/38124"}
