Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Head Start students at a Title I school in Wimauma, FL. Head Start is a program for low socioeconomic families for pre-k children ages 3-5. In Head Start, we prepare children for Kindergarten as well as help build fundamental life, social and academic skills. We are the start of their academic career. It is the fundamental age for learning social skills, math skills, and beginning literacy skills. In order to provide these children with the best education possible, I must provide them the resources they need in order to be successful both in and outside of the classroom.
My Project
These materials will help increase literacy and learning by providing my students with more access to books and literacy magazines. The easel will also allow for flexible and mobile teaching around the room. It will increase learning by allowing me to move around the room.
These items will increase learning to a variety of learners and will help with storage, organization and display of learning materials.
The books and magazines will allow for students to have access to a variety of different reading materials and help increase vocabulary and literacy skills. Reading is a fundamental skill that students need access to materials that they may not have at home.
