My students need resources to help them in reading and math. The draw and write journals as well as the build-a-story flip books listed in my cart will increase my students' skills in reading and writing.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What makes my students special is their tenacity to learn. They are intrinsically motivated, enthusiastically engaged, and happy and ready for learning literacy and numeracy.
They are from a very low socio-economic background, lacking resources and support for a balanced education.
Although lacking specific necessities for an advanced education, they possess an uncanny quality of hope for a brighter future.
Out of 24 students, 10 are below grade level, 10 above grade level and 3 on grade level, therefore the need for differentiated instruction is a necessity.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students academic careers by motivating and engaging them in reading, writing and mathematics. The draw and write journals will give my students practice and application of skills learned. The build a story flip book will allow for my students to build upon his or her imaginations. The blends and digraphs, alphabet activity dice, vowel teams learning center, and decoding two syllables will increase students phonemic awareness as well as phonological awareness. And the visualize math write and wipe boards will make learning math more engaging and interactive in centers and stations. The allowance for an interesting, fun and conducive environment is a necessity in the primary classes. My students have challenges with phonemic and phonological awareness as well as phoneme segmentation. They also struggle with basic math operations and concepts. All of this is due to the simple lack of the right resources. The materials in my cart are specifically chosen for the learning styles of each student in my class.
