Literacy is very important in the world. If you can't read, it is very hard to succeed.
My students are kindergarteners.
They are 5 and 6 years old. Our school is a preschool through 12th grade and our elementary school is in modular structures next to the main building. Our district is one of the poorest districts in our area. Many of our students receive free or reduced lunches.
My Project
The literacy activities, including 3 instant learning centers and magnetic fishing poles, will help my students learn how to sound out words, how to identify the sounds in a word and to identify sight words. I want to make learning fun for my students and these games will help my students gain skills and have fun at the same time.
Reading is a skill that every child needs and these activities will help enforce skills that are taught in my classroom.
My students will be able to read books by the end of the year, which is a big skill and accomplishment for my kindergartners. These games will help them do this.
