Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students log in to our zoom meetings every day energized and eager to learn. They are a hard working group of kids with diverse academic and language skills. I want to help them develop the reading skills that will help them to be successful this academic year and in the future.
My Project
My first grade students need engaging materials to practice the foundational reading skills that will help them to be successful throughout the rest of their academic journey. These hands on materials will help my students to practice essential skills in small groups guided by the teacher or independently with peers. The alphabet tubs will help me teach or solidify initial Spanish sounds as well as vocabulary. Students will also be able to practice reading words, sorting, or creating sentences in Spanish with the word tiles and writing those sentences independently.
