My Students

My students have never experienced a school year without COVID. They were in kindergarten in 2020 when schools shut down. They spent last year with social distancing and masks.

My students desperately want to be in school.

They love learning and work very hard. However, many have substantial gaps due to the pandemic.

My Project

Covid has caused a greater divide in the academic abilities of my students. The decodable readers are ideal for helping me support students who may have gaps in their phonics knowledge. The books provide connected text to help them practice the skills they are learning in class.

Reading is the gateway to lifelong learning, and I want my students to have every opportunity they desire.

I have requested high quality literature to support students who are reading successfully. This will allow me to dive deeply into texts that will help my students develop deeper vocabulary, study characters in depth, and provide thoughtful writing opportunities.
