Literacy Centers to Make Learning Fun!

Help me give my students different literacy games and activities that we can use during center time to build letter recognition, sound recognition, sight word recognition, and writing and reading fluency.

My Students

My kindergartners fill my classroom with energy, enthusiasm, laughter and joy. They demonstrate a love of learning and eagerly ask for more, more, more!

This is the first year that many of my students have ever seen a classroom.

Due to Covid, a good amount of my class did not attend preschool. They also were not as socially engaged with other children before entering school. I would love to create centers that foster peer relationship building and boost self esteem. I want my students to be able to work collaboratively together towards a common goal by using their communication and social skills.

My students are also a bit behind academically. It is important that my students receive small group instruction daily that is tailored to their personal needs. By having these differentiated centers my students will be able to tackle a skill that is appropriate to their developmental level. These supplemental materials will allow me to provide the engaging lessons that they deserve, while also allowing them to further practice their reading, writing, and math!

My Project

My students' reading ability greatly varies. Some students are still working on recognizing their letters and letter sounds. Other students are able to read some books independently but need more support writing words on their own.

These centers will allow me to tailor my instruction to help support their individual needs.

They will be able to work collaboratively with friends on these literacy games and activities. My goal is for these activities to help improve their student-to-student relationships, self confidence, and reading and writing ability. Thank you for your help!
