Lit Crates: HS Library Subscription Boxes (Part 2)

Help me give my students a monthly library subscription box filled with a stress buster activity, gluten free snack, and vinyl sticker (all paired with a library book from their chosen genre).

My Project

I'm biased, but I know the best place to be in the entire school building is the library. As a rural high school librarian, I want my students to view the school library as a place that provides books for pleasure and informational reading, homework and research help, technology tips, as well as a place to explore new hobbies.

This month I will begin offering a new library program for my students--a monthly subscription box that includes a library book (chosen specifically for them based on the genre they prefer), a stress buster activity (example includes watercolor paint, miniature canvas, and easel), a gluten-free snack (example includes veggie straws), and a vinyl sticker.

Several of the items requested on this Part 2 project go with the stress buster activities already funded and received through Part 1. For instance, the pencil sharpeners will go in the monthly boxes that include a bendy pencil and journal. The buckle finishes off the paracord bracelet. The biodegradable flower pot will be given in April (in honor of Earth Day) with a packet of seeds.

The only rule to receiving a box is that the book previously received in any subscription box needs to be returned prior to receiving the next box. Everything else in the box (the stress buster activity, snack, and sticker) is theirs to keep.

My goals for this project are to provide for those that have little time to visit the library, to help my students relax (through reading for enjoyment and the stress buster activity), and to introduce students to new-to-them books from their favorite genres.
