Listening With Our Headphones in Kindergarten

My students need school headphones to use during listening center, listening to stories on the iPads, and when they are doing reading and math iReady diagnostics and instruction on the Chromebooks.

My Students

Respectful, Responsible, and Safe are the main characteristics of our classroom and school. We are a diverse classroom puzzle that fits together as one. Our puzzle pieces are: Hispanic, Persian, French, Chinese, Polish, Australian, African American, Bosnian, Farsi, Hebrew, Indian, Caucasian, and Japanese.

We believe it is our responsibility to acknowledge that all students are unique and capable of innovative problem-solving and critical thinking skills so they can be confident, successful, and independent learners in the 21st century.

Our Kindergarten group this year consists of 110 creative, caring, loving, hard working individuals. Our TK-5 school serves around 700 students. Some are free and reduced lunch, some are socio-economically disadvantaged, and some are brand new to our country with limited language. Our certificated and classified staff works endless hours to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all of our students.

My Project

Students will be using the headphones throughout the day in Kindergarten. During Literacy centers they need to use headphones at the listening center, on the iPads at the Raz-Kids reading story center, and on the Chromebooks at the iReady Reading intervention center. Sometimes as a whole class the students are using the headphones.

The headphones will help the students to focus, concentrate, and listen to their own technology device while doing reading and math.

My wonderful five and six year old students can sometimes get distracted by other noises and individual headphones would help increase their focus time during reading and math.
