This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Having a listening center in my classroom will give my students the opportunity to expand their developing decoding skills. My students are learning the essentials to be able to read and by listening to books they will exposed to different reading skills.

Our school is considered a high poverty/ Title 1 school.

Most of the children come from low-income households. The students in my class are learning how to read. Unfortunately, many of my students have not been introduced to a book prior to entering my classroom.

My Project

Having a listening center will allow me to effectively work with a small group of students while the others are independently listening to book and practicing important reading skills. I can be assured that all my students are receiving the education they need at their own level.

This project is very important because not only will it allow my students to develop important reading skills, but it will also make them feel independent "reading" on their own and boost their self-esteem.
