Our special education students have the opportunity to take classes online. Throughout an online course, they will be responsible for watching videos from their teacher. The problem is, they will not all be at the same spot in the course at the same time. Help us eliminate the distractions of noise!
My students are in a special education program that is tailored to prepare and train them for the "real world" so that they can graduate, get a job and live independently.
They are a fun and enjoyable group to be around and are some of the hardest working students you will ever encounter. They just need a little more one-on-one attention and small group instruction. The students live and attend school in a part of North Carolina that is at or below the high poverty level.
My Project
Headphones will be helpful when my students begin independent work on their online classes. They work on a computer for classes such as English or Biology. The Virtual Public high school teacher puts interactive activities and videos online for the students to view. As you can imagine, the students all work at different paces. Some students get two of their lessons done while others may only get one done. Because of the different paces, having headphones will cut down on extra noise in the classroom distracting the students. The headphones will also help keep the students attention on the task at hand.
Most people forget the special education classrooms when they think about schools.
They think about their math, science, art, band, etc. teachers but often forget that the special education classes need them too. Don't leave us with so much noise the students cannot succeed. Help our students stay on track with their graduation plans and become independent adults.
