Help me give my students a chance to use our new listening with these read-a-long book sets! There is a variety of fiction and non-fiction to appeal to all of my students.
I have a diverse group of pre-k through second grade students in my special education classroom. My students come from varied backgrounds and all have unique needs that they need addressed in a special education setting. They are a fun group of students who always eager to come the resource room and learn in different ways.
The pandemic has set my students back behaviorally and academically.
Some of them missed the critical foundational reading skills taught by their teachers and are struggling to read. Now more than ever, they need fun, creative ways to engage them in the learning process.
My Project
My special education classroom is set up in rotating stations. Stocking our listening center will provide another format for my students to learn to read. Students will be able to follow along with the text while listening to the story. This will help increase their foundational reading skills they are still working on due to time missed from the pandemic.
In the special education classroom, students are more likely to participate in activities that interest them.
The variety of fiction and non-fiction books will appeal to all of my students. The listening center will be a big hit with so many books to choose from. My students will be well on their way to reading independently.
