Listening is Fun With Mrs. Moss

Help me give my students with a hearing loss hands on activities that will support putting vocabulary and language development through a listening first perspective.

My Students

I have the honor of working with some of the coolest students in Onslow County. They are unique in that they all have a diagnosed hearing loss of some degree. The majority of my caseload uses listening and spoken language as their primary mode of communication. They shine bright and have the biggest hearts.

My Project

These materials will allow for a fun, interactive, and engaging approach to learning new vocabulary for students with a hearing loss. Being able to hide materials allows students to focus on the informations they hear (sound, word, phrase) while being introduced to new content. This teaching approach helps to strengthen their auditory comprehension skills. The further development of comprehension skills will aid in supporting later developing literacy skills that are needed for reading and writing. (If you can’t hear it; you can’t say it, if you can’t say it; you can’t read it, if you can’t read it; you can’t write it.)
