My Students

Do you remember when the everyday radio and cassette player came out with the CD player option? Many children who live in our neighborhood don't have access to a cassette tape or CD player.

My students are very eager learners They come to school full of stories about their lives and lots of hugs.

They enjoy sharing their experiences through their writing or their drawings. They also enjoy reading! For most of my students, reading does not come easy. They struggle with identifying vocabulary and sometimes the sounds. Our school has a wide variety of diverse students. About 70% of the students have free and reduced lunch. Our school builds leaders and we begin with the youngest in our building. We believe our students deserve the best education and to have the best materials available to them.

My Project

There is a special part of our day my students always look forward to, Daily 5. They love to work with their peers and they love reading with them. For my students who struggle with reading aloud, being able to listen to the story will build their auditory awareness. Having a good set of headphones and book sets on CD will open up the wonder of reading a story to the struggling student. They are able to see the words and hear the words, which will engrave the concepts into their memory.

My students will be so excited to come to school and have books to listen to and headphones to listen to the books.

These resources will bring so much joy and pleasure to them. This project will read all of my students at various reading stages. Reading is one of the most important traits a person can possess.
