Listening Center to Focus on Fluency!

My Project

Now that we’re learning to read on our own a bit, we need to start focusing on fluency!

These book and CD combos will help me create a listening center for small group time, which will allow students to follow along with a book to a matching read aloud.

This will help them recognize expression, changing tones and speeds, and decode unfamiliar vocabulary. By being exposed to modeled fluent reading on a daily basis, my students will become more fluent and confident readers themselves!

After the small group listens to a book, they will complete an independent book review. This will give them the opportunity to reflect on what they’ve read and strengthen their comprehension skills. Thank you for considering helping us obtain these important materials for our classroom!
