My Students

I teach 25 kindergarten students at a Title I school.

All students love to listen to stories and are very interested in literacy activities.

Students have 20 minutes at the school library each week which includes a story read by the librarian. They are allowed to check out 1 book per week. I would love to build a bigger class library, especially with informational texts, for our classroom listening center activities. We lack science books in our class library.

The school is located on the north border of a suburban city.

My Project

The rack will organize our listening centers and children are able to put the headphones back independently. Currently, the cables on our headphones get tangled frequently and uses some of the students’ listening center time. The additional books and CDs will be a great addition to our current listening center library. Currently, we have a small amount of books and CDs for the children to choose from and we are continuing to build our library. This is our first year that we have a listening center in our kinder room. The children really enjoy listening to the CDs while following along in the student books.
