Listening Center Magic!

Help me give my students an amazing experience through audio. Oral language development is huge for our students as they are learning to read and write. A listening center will be an independent center they will engaged in!

My Project

This project is focused primarily on providing my students with an interactive, engaging way to listen to stories. One of my favorite part of my days with my students is providing them a variety of read alouds and sharing my love of reading with them. Kindergarten students need to hear many stories daily to develop their oral language, vocabulary and comprehension and by modeling reading to them they are already onto a great start to loving reading.

A listening center is an opportunity to build the love of reading with my students.

They will learn to become independent in centers and in the listening center listen carefully and explore new stories each week. This project, in addition to providing the correct equipment, will also provide a great start to a book collection. I will allow my students to engage in new stories and when they complete a story I will give them opportunities to share what they have read. They will share with their peers in discussion, they will draw and write about what they loved. They will respond to prompts where they can share their favorite part of the story, the characters & setting, and more.

A listening center is a unique and engaging tool that will allow my students to explore and develop their reading and writing skills.
