My students are an amazing group of learners from disadvantaged backgrounds; 100% of our students receive free lunch and a third of the students speak a language other than English at home. The students have limited experiences outside the classroom walls. They have limited exposure to current academic materials and often utilize used and donated supplies. They have limited access to cultural and extra-curricular activities as well. The children are eager learners just waiting for the right tools to help them succeed. Please help a great group of children soar high to reach their full potential!
My Project
My students will benefit from a listening center complete with a Bluetooth CD/ Cassette player with 6 headphone jacks for multiple students to listen together! In addition, this project includes center labels, student nametags with pictures, and two musical CDs with fun music for young learners.
Students will use the Bluetooth radio for a multitude of learning experiences including read alongs, learning songs, reading practice, and more!
Students can record their own voices as well! This will help them to practice reading by hearing their own voice. The songs include Alphabops and a collection by Raffi. These fun songs include the alphabet, letter sounds, animals, numbers, colors, and so much more! The nametags will help students switch to their listening center and learn their friends' names. Altogether this listening center will be a huge asset to our kindergarten classroom.
