This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 5th grade at a Title I school in South Florida. The majority of my students come from disadvantaged homes where English is their second language. Our families are strong despite the lack of opportunities and resources they possess.

Students at our school are hungry for opportunities but need the resources to foster their interests and needs.

Many of our families support multiple children and cannot afford the extras that we take for granted. Our school acts as a hub at which families have access to resources beyond their personal reach.

My Project

My students at school and home will use these headphones to learn interactively! With access to a microphone, they will be able to use websites that allow them to record videos teaching their classmates topics they have mastered. They will also be able to record their reading, which will help to improve their fluency and expression. Finally, students who need it will be able to use online learning software for English as a second language. They will be able to hear new words and practice English vocabulary at their own pace.
