My Students

My students are amazing five and six year old kindergartners with an intense love of learning! We are a class of 26 learners, diverse in many ways. We have eight different languages represented in our classroom. For many of my students, this is their first year in school and they couldn't be happier here.

Not only are my students kindergartners; they are readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and engineers.

My kindergartners attend an amazing E-STEM school in Washington State where we teach them to explore, study, and learn about the world around them. In order to do their best learning, my students need multiple chances to read and listen to books.

My Project

We spend 60 minutes a day rotating through four independent work stations as part of our literacy block. My students love looking at and reading books, but many of them cannot read books yet as we are just learning how to read. We need books to start a listening center during our independent work time.

Kindergartners not only love reading books but they really LOVE listening to stories and a listening center is just what we need!

My students are not only learning how to read but many of my students are learning English as their second and third languages and listening to stories helps build their language development. By using audio books at the listening center, my students will be able to grow their love of reading AND learn new vocabulary and comprehension skills. Your donation will help us continue to grow our love of reading!
