This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school has been fortunate to where our students have gotten new computers for a computer lab and Nooks that are loaded with several grade level appropriate texts. Now, for us to utilize these excellent pieces of technology to the best of our ability, we are in need of some headphones.
Our students are very eager to make technology a part of their lives.
The majority of the students that attend our school are from low-income families and eat free or reduced breakfast and lunch. We are excited about helping to make learning more enticing by using technology to advance our students and get them more prepared for the future.
Our students will be able to use the headphones in a variety of ways here at our school. We will be able to use them for our new computer lab. Students in grades kindergarten through second will be able to listen to stories being told to them on the Nooks. Our upper grade students will be able to use the headphones for their classroom sets of IPads. The headphones will be an important piece to good learning and listening that we have been missing out on.
Some students who are unable to read a grade level appropriate text on their own will now be able to benefit from hearing the story being read to them.
Several of the activities that are found on educational websites are often full of sound affects and phonics sounds that we need the students to be able to hear in order to be able to participate and fully benefit from them.
