I have been teaching at this particular title one elementary school for my entire teaching career. I could not imagine being anywhere else. The students here are full of energy, enthusiasm, and have a true eagerness for learning. They deserve every best resource out there to help them become successful students and in turn, successful adults.
Being primarily in the lower grades, I have had firsthand experience of "light bulb" moments in my classroom, like when a child learns how to read a book for the first time, write his or her first sentence that turns into a story, or understand what it means to add or subtract in math.
These moments are what make teaching worth it.
The particular group I have right now is so dear to my heart. The majority of them are six years old and they come in every morning with a smile on their face ready for a new day of learning. We tackle each school day together not only growing academically, but socially. They take care of each other, take care of me, and we are a family. It is my goal to ensure they have every tool they need to succeed.
My Project
Adding this listening center to my classroom with the books would help enhance the reading abilities of the children in my classroom.
This project would provide a differentiated way of learning with each student in my classroom.
Students would be given books on their level, helping them progress with his or her reading skills.
It would be used as a literacy station during my English Language Arts block and the students would be in pairs or small groups while using this device. After listening to the books, the students would respond in their journals to various story element questions demonstrating their comprehension to a text.
The funding of this project would be a tremendous help to the literacy environment I am creating in my classroom!
