We have a new cart and headphones for our listening center but we need more activities to DO in our listening center.
Our school is a Title I school, but we work hard to give our students the same opportunities as other schools.
My students are active, eager, and inquisitive 5 and 6 year olds. Many of my students have limited technological experiences, so learning with any kind of technology is an added bonus.
My Project
We are trying to give our listening center a 'make over'. In Part 1 of this project, we were able to acquire a new cart and new headphones that would allow us more practical use of this center. Now we are requesting new activities that we can use in this center. We are asking for CD activity sets that work on increasing vocabulary, listening skills, sequencing and letter sounds. We are also asking for CD activity sets that will increase our math skills such as sorting, patterns, and simple addition. Since these activities will be completed in a student-led small group, the teacher will be 'free' to work with other small groups.
Of course we can learn these skills without these materials, but the students won't be as engaged in the learning.
Using our technology, and being able to complete these activities independently in a center really increases the student 'buy-in'. The teacher will be able to work with small groups of children while others are actively engaged in learning in the listening center. Please consider supporting us on this last phase of our listening center make-over.
