This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high need school, my students are faced with many challenges. Despite the issues they often deal with I am looking to provide them with an exciting, engaging, and welcoming classroom environment with the tools they need to be successful.

Being given the tools to achieve their goals will allow my students to be excited about learning and ultimately achieve their goals.

Walking into class every day can provide my students with a whole new world of experiences that will lead them to become lifelong learners.

My Project

My students will have the opportunity to utilize a listening center that provides hands on learning experiences. Students will be able to listen to stories and practice phonics, comprehension, and writing to reinforce daily instruction. The listening center and headphones will allow students to listen and read along with a story without any distractions. Their reading fluency will improve and they will be able to complete activities designed for specific skills with each story, in an engaging and enjoyable format. Being able to have a literacy center in my classroom will give students at all levels, the support and enrichment needed in a well balanced literacy program.
