This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I remember the excitement of listening to a record and turning the pages of an illustrated book, reading along with the narrator. Most of my students have not had that experience. Listening to books while reading along will help the students learn to read and develop a love for books.

I am a teacher in a school that services students who come from low income working class families that live in Southern California.

My students are some of the most creative kindergartners you will ever meet. They are eager, enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning and listening to stories read to them.

My Project

The item that I am requesting will greatly benefit my students with beginning reading skills, helping them become independent readers. Most importantly your generosity will help my students gain the confidence they need to become fluent readers, as well as help them to develop a love of books and reading that will follow them throughout their educational journey.

The listening center/Cd player will support students in building independent reading skills, developing a love of reading, and help them build their comprehension, sequencing, and retelling skills.

Your generosity will help twenty-three students this year and many, many more in the future. Thank You!
