Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My wonderful sixth, seventh and eighth graders! What can I say about them? Simply put, they are amazing, intelligent, energetic, outgoing and curious human beings who every day, bring a smile to my face.
They live in a low-income high poverty area and they are eager to read, write, and learn!
They attend a school funded through Title I, and many of my students are English Learners. As technology continues to take over a big part of their daily lives, I want to make sure that students are able to create work that they can show-off to parents, staff, and students.
My Project
My students need headphones for assigned listening centers. Currently, I have listening centers where students use headphones to watch instructional videos, and to listen to audio from assigned texts. Our current set of headphones are broken and I constantly have to ask students to bring their own headphones. Some students forget to bring their headphones and some students simply do not have a set of headphones to bring to school.
Headphones will allow my students to take charge of their education as they watch videos and listen to assigned text to support their learning.
With state testing now requiring a listening portion, these headphones will also help prepare my students for state testing that will require listening to videos and answering questions about what they heard.
