Lincoln Steam Team Builds Knowledge with Coding

My students need technology skills in coding and construction of robotics. In order to advance their knowledge gained in the classroom, the Lincoln Steam Team will provide an avenue to raise the bar on problem-solving.

My Students

Students at my school are wonderful and attempt to do their work without many materials at home due to the low socioeconomic status of our community. The free/reduced lunch rate in my building is about 68%. Give a child who is hungry for knowledge the skills he/she needs and you'll teach them to think forever gaining more knowledge! Knowledge is, of course, power!

In order to help them get a hands on experience in STEAM activities, a fellow educator and I have sponsored our STEAM Team.

This is a brand new after school program at my building and we need coding devices. By adding WeDo 2.0 robotic coding kits to our stash, we will project our team into the digital and technology age with hands-on skills. These students will be able to advance skills in all standard areas as we learn about robotics.I encourage my students to believe in themselves, and that they can achieve anything.

I would like to begin this Lincoln Steam Team with projects but need financial support.

My Project

This kit allows students a chance to explore an easy step-by-step coding and robotic building. The Lego company has provided wonderful tools to encourage positive experiences in coding, but they are expensive. By purchasing one kit and replacement parts, the students will be actively engaged in learning while having fun. Students will build moving robots moving to their directions.

By involving all academic disciplines from writing your plan, measuring, and even drawing a floor plan to involve the arts, students will strengthen knowledge learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world problem-solving.
