My Project

My first graders are beginning to unlock the exciting world of reading! Decodable books are an essential resource for supporting their growth. These books focus on the phonics concepts that my students are learning, such as three-letter words and consonant digraphs. This allows my students to review the skills they have been learning and practice decoding words.

There is no better feeling than seeing the smile on a student's face when they are able to read a book independently for the first time!

Decodable readers build my students' confidence in their ability to read since the books are right on their level. Furthermore, hands-on learning is incredibly effective in early childhood. Reading manipulatives such as the Snap and Build digraph game engage students in building and manipulating words, which deepens their understanding of the phonics concepts we have learned. Additionally, I included paper and glue in my project as these supplies are used daily in my literacy centers. For example, my students will cut and glue letters to build words as one of their centers. These resources will serve as an invaluable tool in supporting the growth of my students as they become increasingly confident and capable readers!
