Hello, I want to tell you a little about my students. We live in the Midwest of the United States. It is very beautiful here and we have many natural resources. Sadly, not everyone has the ability to use even free resources. The students, however, come from a predominantly low income area. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. These children are many times not given the same experiences and opportunities others have, because their families must prioritize any income they receive.
The students here are inquisitive and eager to expand their knowledge, however, many have little or no opportunity for experiences outside of school.
The gift from Donor's Choose would give the students various perspectives of the world around them. They would would be exposed to people, places, and things they may have never been able to before.
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning in various ways. The materials will provide students with several articles that will enhance their ability to experience the world in a manner the may never have. Students will be exposed to different information and opinions that will help make them well rounded individual thinkers and life long learners. Every child in the United States should have the equal opportunity to experiences. Unfortunately, this does not happen. By providing these materials and experiences, the students can look forward to their future as informed, well rounded individuals. Each month gives the students new strategies to think and learn.
