Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We believe that musical theater helps all students to develop
communication skills, a love for the art of performance, and an appreciation for the process of putting on a show.
Since we are a Title I school, our students unfortunately do not have access and opportunities to attend dance, acting, or singing classes outside of school. Through our collaboration with Center Theater Group and Disney Musicals in Schools, we are building a sustainable musical theater program at our school.
Our students are so excited to have the opportunity to showcase their talents in a Disney Musicals in Schools' production of The Lion King Kids. They are realizing their potential to create an engaging theater experience for the whole school community to enjoy. Our cast and crew eagerly await sharing their production with student-run lights and sound in conjunction with student-created scenery.
My Project
Through the performing arts, our students strengthen communication skills, collaborate to create an engaging performance, and benefit from the enrichment experience that they would not otherwise have access to.
The panels will help students to change scenes and display their artistic creations while the lights will highlight our students' presentation skills and showcase their unique talents.
Students who learn how to work the lighting controls gain valuable skills and boost their confidence levels because they realize they are essential crew members of a well-produced student show.
By donating you give our students motivation to be healthy risk-takers who continue to build confidence as they explore performance and production skills.
