I teach 6-8th grade students with special needs. My school places an emphasis on developing leaders who will serve their local and global communities, and my innovative students are no exception.
Today's students are tomorrow's leaders.
My students each have a unique set of talents and strengths that make them a valuable addition to our world. In my classroom, they are able to explore these strengths and learn to lead, advocate, and act on the issues that matter most to them.
My students love learning, but because they have disabilities, sometimes it might take an extra push to help them connect the innovative ideas they have in their minds with actions they can take to make it a reality. By striving to include culturally responsive teaching, social justice, and technology in my classroom, my students are challenged to extend their thinking on a daily basis and become the leaders of tomorrow.
My Project
A document camera can be a powerful tool in my classroom. Many of my students are visual learners and need to see examples illustrated before they understand a new idea. A document camera would help me be able to reach those students who are struggling to understand by giving them a visual example to go with other explanations.
My students love to share their ideas with the world.
A document camera will also allow students to share their thinking and solutions with their classmates with ease. This is especially helpful in math, when each student is eager to share their own unique strategies and help their classmates learn.
