As a teacher in a Title I school, many of my students come from poverty stricken, low-income homes. Some also are learning English as a second language and others have special needs. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Some of my students live in a shelter or motels. Others are living with other families.
Despite these difficult circumstances, my students come to school eager to learn and explore.
They are fascinated with the new activities, opportunities, and experiences that I can provide for them. They have so much love to share with me and with each other. I want to be able to give them every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
My Project
The best way for students to be able to learn is to have the materials in their hands so they can see it, touch it, and use it up close. Unfortunately, it isn't always possible to have a class set of every book, every paper, or every activity to let each student have one to use. However, with a document camera, I can show them the book or math problems larger than life so everyone can see.
A document camera will allow me to reach all of my students at once with a book or math manipulatives or to show them the best way to write.
Modeling, or showing them how to do something, is an essential part of every lesson during the day. With a document camera, I can show them how to build numbers, add or subtract, or how to read a word problem. I can put a book under the camera so everyone can see both the pictures and the text to read along, even for books that are smaller! I can also use it to show them the best way to write their letters, how to use spaces and punctuation to grow them as readers. Please help my students grow even more with this document camera!
