My Students

I teach 24 enthusiastic, diverse, and energetic 4 and 5-year-old learners in a collaborative, Expanded Transitional Kindergarten in a large, urban, 100% Title I, a public school in Los Angeles. My students are unique individuals with various levels of abilities. Many are English learners, and 1/3 of the class have intellectual, developmental, social, or sensory challenges.

We highlight and celebrate each student's strengths and work together to foster an inclusive community.

In normal times, we spend our day actively learning through play, literature, music, movement, hands-on experiences and interactions with others, but these are extraordinary times. My students will begin this school year at home using distance learning.

My Project

My 34th year of teaching will begin remotely. I will be teaching from both my home and my classroom without any students present. My lessons will be streamed and recorded from a laptop and my iPhone.

I need technology that will help connect my students to my classroom remotely this year.

Having a wireless microphone will allow me to be more mobile when charting, reading, modeling, or demonstrating key concepts. Good lighting and a tablet will help students see more clearly what I am teaching.

This will be a year of learning and growing for all of us!
