Lights, Camera, Print! Empowering Young Makers in 3D

Help me give my students various colors of Bambu PLA Filament, a CyberBrick Time-lapse Kit, and Bambu Swatches so they can create vibrant 3D prints, document projects, and select materials for each build.

My Project

Every day, my second graders walk into our classroom bursting with ideas such as robots with moving parts, imaginative creatures, classroom helpers, and inventions no one has ever seen before. Our 3D printer has opened a whole new world for them, turning their drawings and Tinkercad models into real, hold-in-their-hands creations. But to keep their creativity growing, we need more tools that help bring their designs to life with clarity, color, and confidence.

This project will provide various colors of Bambu PLA filament, allowing students to choose the perfect shade for each project.

Whether they’re designing a bright blue keychain for a family member, a rainbow bookmark for independent reading, or a model to support a science lesson, the colors they select help make each creation personal and meaningful.

The CyberBrick Time-lapse Kit will add an extra layer of excitement. Students absolutely love watching their ideas grow layer-by-layer on the printer, and with a time-lapse setup, they’ll be able to see the entire process captured from start to finish. This gives them a deeper understanding of how 3D printing works and encourages them to reflect on their design choices, revisions, and final outcomes.

Finally, Bambu swatches will act like a hands-on color library. Students will be able to touch, compare, and select materials just like real designers. This supports decision-making, visual planning, and classroom collaboration as they work together to choose the best options for each build.
