My Project

Burke High School students are talented, creative, and full of pride for their school and community. Many of our students come from historically underserved neighborhoods in Charleston, and they thrive when given opportunities to lead, create, and share their perspectives. Our media team includes students from athletics, arts, special education, and academic seminar, all united by a passion for storytelling.

They deserve tools that match their potential.

Burke High School is full of powerful stories — student athletes breaking records, artists creating beautiful work, teachers innovating in their classrooms, and families who have shaped Charleston for generations. As the advisor of our student media team, I see every day how eager our students are to capture these moments and share them with our school and community.

Right now, our media team works with outdated, inconsistent equipment that limits their creativity and the quality of their productions. They dream of creating weekly video announcements, athlete spotlights, teacher features, community interviews, and digital storytelling projects that reflect the pride and excellence of Burke. With your support, we can give them the tools to make that dream a reality.

This project will provide our students with a set of reliable, high-quality media tools — cameras, microphones, lighting kits, and accessories — that allow them to produce content that looks and sounds professional. These tools will be used across athletics, academics, school events, and community outreach, helping us build a stronger, more connected school culture.
