Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are unique, rambunctious individuals. They are hard-working, creative, and eager students. My students are in a low-income, poverty-stricken, minority school. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting. Needless to say, many of my students do not have access to any form of technology at home and most of the time are unable to get the required school supplies.
This year has been very challenging for our district and our students as many lacked sufficient resources to succeed.
We did not expect to have shutdown and adopt the distance learning model. Many of our students encountered issues with technology and overall productive learning environments. For many of my students, our school is the most secure and safe environment they have and due to COVID-19 that became a very difficult and unattainable commodity.
My Project
Our district made the decision to have all high schools start the year using the hybrid model. This means that half of my students will be in my classroom and the other half will be remote viewing our classes via live stream.
I need a document projector, audio speakers, audio cable and online resources to successfully provide my students with a successful hybrid/remote learning experience.
My district is all low-income and often lacks funding for resources, it is very difficult to have functioning technology in our schools. I travel from classroom to classroom and in one of my classrooms I don’t have any audio which is why I need audio cables and speakers. I often struggle to teach in a classroom with a working smart board and audio. Thus, I need to get the remaining technology that I am requesting through this project to make live streaming of my classes successful.
